Umbrella Hat Blogs!

Hi! We are Umbrella Hat Productions. We're a new production company based in New York City and Santa Fe, New Mexico.

We are dedicated to making performance art and theater that bridges gaps and brings people together.

Our current, primary project is producing two plays in Santa Fe, New Mexico, this summer: Iphigenia & Other Daughters by Ellen McLaughlin and Proof by David Auburn. We are uniting artists from Santa Fe and New York to participate in this unique collaboration.

Umbrella Hat is also producing master classes, ensemble workshops, and intern programs throughout the summer in Santa Fe, aimed at inspiring young people through theater.

Get involved! Email Natasha AT UmbrellaHat DOT org. And jump around and smile!

Opening Night for “Iphigenia…” was a huge success!

Thank you to all who came out to support us!

And don’t forget that there’s a whole festival of events happening in the next 10 days - get your tickets now! And the opening night for “Proof” will be on Saturday at 8pm with a post-show wine & cheese reception so don’t miss it!

And tonight, the cast and crew of “Iphigenia…” talks back to the audience after the show.

I can hardly contain my excitement! I hope to see you there!

bombs drop…and teacups shiver

McLaughlin wrote this retelling of the Oresteia in 1995 in response to the first Iraq War.  It is the heart-wrenching story of a young soldier returning home to his family – a “world of women.” At once modern and timeless, beautiful and peculiar, this play challenges us to confront the horror of war and to embrace the healing power of love.
