Hi! We are Umbrella Hat Productions. We're a new production company based in New York City and Santa Fe, New Mexico.

We are dedicated to making performance art and theater that bridges gaps and brings people together.

Our current, primary project is producing two plays in Santa Fe, New Mexico, this summer: Iphigenia & Other Daughters by Ellen McLaughlin and Proof by David Auburn. We are uniting artists from Santa Fe and New York to participate in this unique collaboration.

Umbrella Hat is also producing master classes, ensemble workshops, and intern programs throughout the summer in Santa Fe, aimed at inspiring young people through theater.

On Saturday June 27th I had the pleasure of doing an improvisation workshop with a group students at IAIA. What I love most about improv is that you can never be wrong, the more you say yes and accept offers the more adventures and fun the performers and the audience will have.  This group was a wonderful example of this, each and everyone of them was supporting each other, by jumping on stage and taking on a new scene or by cheering each other on from the audience. As I threw out new games and exercises to the group they took them, ran and made them their own. Having the opportunity to work with this group reminded me what theater is all about to me, creating magic, being free of life’s “should’s” and “could’s” and just creating a place where everyone works together and expresses themselves with their words, body, face and voice. Thank you!
